With the launch of SSE4.1 in the penryn/yorkfield chips, I'm wondering if there is any active development of these instruction sets in x264?

Thanks all!

Oh My GOD! This was discussed many times. Use search.
BTW. Do not expect big improvements in speed.

Search... we've had half a dozen threads.

Short summary: There probably isn't anything massively useful in them.

Thanks for the replies. I know people who don't search are a pain in the balls but I did search before posting. I really didn't find the answer to my question (is it being working on) although I did find a few threads revolving around whether or not SSE4.x will be faster.

Anyway, I'm still wondering if the devs are actively working on it :)

pengu already said his routines are faster

that
and divx built their full search around SSE4 so that it would show that its faster
but full search is damn near useless

SSE4.x are pretty useless for optimized algos.
SSE4.x are only useful for unoptimized full search algos.
