Hi,

I've converted a MKV file containing a NTSC movie stream, which plays perfectly fine. I tried converting it using ConvertXtoDVD and FAVC to pal dvd, and both encoded movies stutter like every 10 seconds, really irritating.

Is this normal for a NTSC-PAL converted movie, or what could solve this behaviour ?

Hi!

Your posting raises several questions:

1) You may find it easier to accomplish your purpose by working with your original NTSC DVD, rather than the .MKV you created from it.

2) Why did you purchase an NTSCS DVD, if you require PAL format? If it's a DVD that's only available in NTSC format, please state the Title of the DVD.

3) Why did you bother to create an .MKV file from your NTSC DVD, if your intent was to convert the NTSC DVD to PAL format?

First, re-encode from your original DVD, not from an MKV.

Rip the DVD and apply IVTC to get back to 23.976. Then resize to 720x576 and encode an M2V at 23.976fps. Then apply DGPulldown 23.976->25fps on the M2V. Finally author the PAL DVD using that M2V.

There are guides online for this process, which you can find using google.
