View Full Version : DV Resizing Ugh

I have a DV Video showing a DAR of 4:3 but not really possible as the video comes in as 740x480. When I render it in any way from it's original DV capture, the video gets bars on the top and bottom and looks a bit crunched. That said, I know the video eventually needs to be 640x480 however isn't that going to look smooshed? Any suggestions what to do with the video after you capture the DV to make it ready for MPEG2 encoding? Just interested in any resizing things, not the pieces in between.

By the way, using Sony Vegas so if someone knows how to resize properly in Vegas let me know.

Thanks.

Leave it as 720 x 480. It is the correct size for MPEG2/DVD.

In fact, 720 x 480 is used for 4:3 and 16:9. It is up to the TV or whatever to stretch the video to the right size.

The resolution should indeed be 720x480, not 740x480. JohnnyMalaria explained the rest :)
