I have a couple of questions about burned dvds to to cd-rw disks. I use avi2dvd to create bin/cue files to burn to the disk and I got it to work. I used the option for FreeEnc to encode the files and the results look real bad. Almost unwatchable. The audio was great but the screen was real dark. I was told to use the option of CCE but I can't locate CCE. Is this my issue or will the other options, such as QuEnc or NuEnc give me the quality that would be watchable.

The dvd file that I am burning has the ratio of 16:9 and its burning to 4:3. Is it possible to burn it with the 16:9 ratio and have those famous black lines on top and bottom of the screen when watching the video? If so how?

The programs that I am using or AVI2DVD and Nero-8.2.8.0 to burn the dvd to a cd-rw disk. Are these the best options that I have to complete my task.

Thank you so much and I look forward to the response.

P.S. Keep in mind I am posting this to the Newbies section and I am a virgin when it comes to dvd burning.

First of all, avi2DVD is still in beta, which means that the programmers still haven't figured out how to make it work smoothly, if at all. Many complaints are lodged against it at Afterdawn.org.

IMHO, your best bet is to use the freeware resource ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/)to build your .iso, then have Nero burn that to DVD whatever media, although ImgBurn is quite happy to burn the .iso as well, with excellent results.

Just leave the preferences at their default settings and all should be well. If the original image ratio is 16:9 you will see the same ratio (including those attractive black bars) in your finished product.

A typical burn should take about 7 - 15 minutes, depending on your CPU, etc.

Okay, let's back up.

Its a video that I purchased and downloaded online that I want to play in my dvd player.

You're talking about making VCD/SVCDs. Unfortunately, in order to answer your question better (now that I know what you really want) I refer you to Rule 6 (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) of our forum, which is no discussion of items obtained by "questionable" means.

I'm going to wait until a moderator referees this point about an "online purchase."
