Ive blanked out the warning logos you sometimes get at the start of a movie. The picture has gone but just replaced by a blank screen which is the same length of time as the original. any ideas please?

The blank screen that replaces the blank logo is .5 seconds long... are you sure you clicked on the save button?

I'm pretty sure I did. The picture has been removed but the blank screen is to long. Would not saving it cause this?

@johnnieboy
Hi!
1) Did you do a full DVD rip or a movie-only rip?
2) Is your DVD a SONY release? If so, what is the Title and Region number?

the video title I'm trying to blank out is one of those that you cant access or fast forward while it is playing. Is this why I cant blank it out to a 0.5 sec section?:thanks:

That situation is caused by PUO's or "Prohibited User Operations". You should be able to disable all PUO's with PGCedit.

PUOs or no, the blank is 0.5 seconds - it should fly through.

Ive tried blanking extras as well and that works ok. I just get a blank screen for about a second if I try to view them which is fine. Its just the annoying logos, warnings against copyright, etc that you get at the beginning of a DVD that I cant remove. As I said before you cant fast forward these so removing them is a good idea but I still cant get it to work.

They are usually in the menu domain. Make sure you have enable menu encoding ticked. Then they shuld be blanked, too.
Note, if they are in VIDEO_TS.VOB (which they often are), at this time, DVDRB does not process that. Use PgcEdit or VobBlanker to rid yourself of these before or after the encode.

Use VOB Blanker, it works perfectly with DVD-RB, and can also help problem DVds that software like DVD Shrink doesn't handle correctly
I've been using it to remove annoying crap and also to do basic cutting which can also remove minor annoyances from the start of each episode if doing episode DVDs that are just basic straight from master tape, such as old BBC comedy series for a couple of years now
You may have to go through each title set as they also hide the adverts and FBI warning at the start title sets instead of something easy like its own title set
Just select process all, that way it also fixes any minor authoring errors from the original DVD, DVD-RB has yet to fail for me when DVD Blanker has done its work

it isnt in any of the video_TS.VOB files but it does appear when I play any of the IFO files

Try tracing the project with PgcEdit and see exactly where the logos are. Sometimes, you can miss some of these, especially if your DVDRB settings do not pick up the VTSs due to their small size.

Just a small question, why can't DVD Rebuilder process VIDEO_TS yet? A search only brought up posts by jdobbs and you stating the program cannot yet process it.
Sorry for hijacking the thread!

Mainly because it just hasn't been a priority. The vast majority of DVDs just don't benefit from reencoding it, and there have been other features/fixes that I felt were more important.

It'd be real nice to have VIDEO_TS.VOB processing, but most times, there's just junk there which can be removed in an instant with PgcEdit or VobBlanker.
Sometimes, there's real menus, but they are usually small and if not, you can move them to a VTS with DVD Remake Pro (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/index.php), for example (requires some reauthoring).
Finally, most modern rippers eliminate the huge unreferenced junk video within VIDEO_TS.VOB that is a part of modern protection schemes. If the ripper has not eliminated this, then this is a good reason why DVDRB could process VIDEO_TS.VOB as often this vid can be 600Mb or more.

Thanks for the quick replies guys :).

Also, if VIDEO_TS.VOB could be processed, it cuts out the need for other 3rd party software which could help eliminate external problems for DVD-RB...

just tried vobblanker and it works a treat! Got rid of the warnings etc. and left the DVD menus working fine. I'll use it in the future along side rebuilder. A question arises though, should I use vobblanker before using rebuilder or afterwards. It seems that vobblanker "rips" the DVD to the hard drive as part of the process so I could do this first and then use rebuilder accessing from a hard drive which would maybe be quicker anyway rather than using rebuilder straight from a DVD. What Do You Think Guys?

VobBlanker has no ripping capabilities whatsoever (in fact it has anti ripping routines built in to it). I'd use it beforehand to enable maximum space, however, jdobbs discourages preprocessing.

I use VOB Blanker before running it through DVD-RB
That way anything that has been stripped, blanked or cut and reduces the final size of the output means that DVD-RB has a bit more to play with to squeeze more out of the available bitrate
