High Quality Xvid encodes?

I've been using DVDRB for a long time now, but am just recently interested in Xvid encodes for movies. How can I get high quality encodes out of DVDRB? I have done a few, they came out not so great. I occasionally get "scene release" of tv shows and am impressed by the quality they get fitting about 40 minutes into 350mb. Is there some trick to doing this?
