Imho MKV is one of the best container formats, and as i am not a real fan of menu's i decided to remux my dvd's to mkv's

I took 1 audio track, 1 video track and a ASS converted subtitle track, i also added chapters.

The resulting file does not work with DXVA and the ASS subtitles do not display

The subtiles do work fine as an external file (Ong Bak DVD Remux.ass)

here is what avinaptic has to say:

Are you sure it's no renderer problem here with Subtitles i think it could happen that sometimes VMR9 (XP) changes to non Hardware mode as the windowed version isn't be able to render it you should try force VMR9 Renderless. What happens if you just have Video & Audio no subtitles, does it work then directly? or does DXVA also fails then?
Tough im not sure as i never ever used Subtitles but i realized that also Commercial Players that are build upon DShow have problems with that sometimes (for sure it also has todo with the subtitle renderer and what it does).

Ill try to mux it without the subtitles and see what happens

I always use DX9 renderless

fixed.

used latest SVN of MPC-HC, enabled the internal subtitle reader, dx9 renderless, cyberlink dvd decoder.

Everything works perfectly now, just had to block directvobsub
