View Full Version : Anybody know what "The Wire" US NTSC DVDs are like?

The UK PAL DVDs of "The Wire" are icky frame blends. I've been thinking about buying the NTSC DVDs from the US, which is a respectably expensive prospect. I gather the whole series is produced in 4:3 SD, and the producers say there will never be an HD version, so this is the best I'm likely to get.

I'm sure somebody at Doom9 must have some experience with them, so I wonder if anybody can tell me what they're like. Are they telecined, true interlaced, or a bit of both? How's the general quality by NTSC DVD standards?

Thanks to anybody who can help...

I havn't bought that set yet, but I've done a lot of NTSC TV DVD rips. Most of the HBO series are shot on film and telecined, where as the live comedy stuff is usually pure video.

I've been meaning to go buy that set, maybe I'll order it up from Amazon right now. When I get my hands on it I'll let you know for sure.
