View Full Version : Creating Chapters with YAMB

I've recently been exploring the creation of .MP4 videos from my DVDs. At this juncture, one thing I haven't been able to determine is the required format (and, perhaps, extender?) of a Chapter List.

As an example, when working with "Across the Universe" (nostalgia ;>}), I used SmartRipper to convert the movie-only from my hard drive DVD "package" to one .VOB. In doing so, SmartRipper also generated several additional files, one of which included chapter listings in the following several different formats:Chap#=Frame#
Chapter1=0

Chap#=@LBA
Chapter1=0

Chap#=Frame# Name
1=0 Chapter1

Chap#=Second
Chapter1=0

Chap#=Time
Chapter1=00:00:00.001) Which, if any of these formats can be processed by YAMB?

2) Must the file have a specific extender in order to be recognized and processed by YAMB?

OGM style...
CHAPTER01=00:00:00.00
CHAPTER01NAME=blah-blah

2) Must the file have a specific extender in order to be recognized and processed by YAMB?
For the moment, .txt file but in the incoming release there is a parser for chapters file.

@Kurtnoise13

Thanks for the insight ;>}

Just to be sure though, should the first chapter be "01" or "00"?

01...
Does it really matter, or make any difference?

Have you seen already some DVDs chapters marks begin to zero ?

No, but what does it matter internally to the splitter/player in the case of OGM-style chapters? As in, does it break anything, or is that just some kind of a convention that makes little practical or technical sense?

it doesn't matter in fact but the most current tools (DVDDecrypter, Chapter-X-Tractor, etc...) start with the "01" as index...
