Remuxing Old Files to New(er) Standards

Back when DivX was all the rage I backed up a few of my old DVDs. This was about 5 or 6 years ago if I recall correctly. These were DivX 3 video with stereo MP3 audio, no subtitles or anything else, those were much simpler times.

Lately, I find myself using iTunes and FrontRow a lot, and would love to watch my movies through iTunes. The problem is that iTunes doesn't play nice with AVI files.

What I would like to do is convert the AVI files into MP4 files. There is a great loss of quality if I convert the files through something like VisualHub, so I would rather not go that route. I plan on using MP4Box and Yamb to remux into MP4. When I try this I get an error, specifically:

Re-encode from your original DVDs.

The DVDs I still have I re-encoded, there are a few discs I can't find, and two that won't read.

YAMB seems to have a problem with files encoded in DivX. XviD seems to encode fine in Yamb, but iTunes won't play them whereas VLC will. This is just getting more confusing. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, you're lacking mp4box.exe.

You may also have to re-encode the audio to AAC... not sure, I avoid Apple products whenever possible.
