I have read a lot about dialog normalization here.
I wanted to convert my Batman Begins HD DVD to WMV.
Therefore I used eac3to to convert the audio track to AC3 and BeSweet to split it into mono WAVs. I then encoded video and audio to a 720p WMV with Windows Media Encoder.
Now the strange thing is:
When I play that WMV on Windows Media Player, the dialog audio is almost non existant (volume wise).
However, when Nero Showtime or my Xbox play the movie, everything is fine.
How can I find out, what audio codec is acting up in Media Player?
According to GSpot the audio is rendered this way:
(Src)-->>--(A)-->[DMO:WMAudio Decoder DMO]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]
Src:my WMV,
A: WMMEDIASUBTYPE_WMAudioV9
DMO...: qasf.dll wmadmod.dll
B: Mediasubtype_PCM
Default...: quartz.dll
Gspot also plays the dialog at the correct volume.
What causes Media Player to play dialog so quiet?
