Hi, i record shows to my computer in .mpg format and remove ads with videoredo plus, i was given the below settings from a friend of how to encode xvid, i have a very fast computer, is there any of these settings i can change to improve the picture quality, im not bothered if its slower as my computer is very fast. Shows air in PDTV, either fullscreen or widescreen depending on the channel.

I archive these and burn them to dvdr and watch on my dvd player, so i cant use custom matrixes or anything like that and obviously cant use x264 or anything unfortunately. Hopefully some x264 capable cheap players come out in 2008

Though you seem to be somewhat of an experienced user here, note rule 12:

Do not ask "what's best" because this question cannot be answered objectively. Each and everyone has their own view about what's best in a certain area. The best is what works best for you!

true, but i was hoping for some better settings in general, not some settings that makes some pictures too grainy or too blurred sharp etc, just some general good settings.

Hope someone can give me some settings and maybe 2 lines of description of what each of the changes do and levels to use.

thankyou guys.

Hi, hajj_3

I would suggest setting VHQ mode to 4 and checking VHQ for b-frames box (if you use any b-frames) in XviD settings.

Best wishes,
Irakli
