I must confess that lurking here the last week or so has been quite humbling as most you speak what I would consider a foreign language. I am far from being a technical Luddite, but the video vernacular bandied about here is quite bewildering. Be that as it may, I have a few queries.
I am about as new as new gets when it comes to backing up DVDs. Aside from DVD Shrink (3.2.0.15) and Ripit4me (1.7.1.0), I haven't bothered researching any other software as these programs (and whatever other programs that come with them) worked 100% of the time. Until now. I've been trying to back up my discs for Season 1 of Six Feet Under, but for some reason disc 3 just will not rip. Discs 1, 2 and 4 were backed up just fine using DVD Shrink, but disc 3 always fails right when DVD Shrink hits 100% complete. I tried using Ripit4me, which successfully ripped/deposited the various BUP, IFO and VOB files onto my hard drive, yet DVD Shrink still fails to compress at the same point in the process, and I don't have DVD9 burning capabilities (the ripped files were about 7.5 GB total).
So...I am asking what the next logical step would be. Is it good that Ripit4me was able to rip the files to my hard drive? I am assuming a barrage of other applications are called for, but lordy there are so many! Or, am I simply SOL?
TIA.
