When using any of these 1-click transcoders or even DVD-RB, is there anything special to keep in mind when backing up a RC1 DVD to be played back on a RC2 DVD player?
It's not so much the region that I'm concerned with, but rather, the fps and resolution.
If I simply create a "region-free" DVD backup, won't the movie playback slower on a player that expects a 50 fps rate?

Most players in PAL land can handle NTSC without re-encoding. Check that yours can. If not, you will need to convert the framerate to PAL.

And similarly for the TV.
Not all TVs produced for the European market support NTSC but the majority of them do.
I lent a R1 disc to a friend recently and although he had a multiregion player it played back in black & white with a distorted picture due lack of NTSC support on his TV. :)
So basically both the TV and DVD player have to support NTSC.

So, in order to minimize any risks, I think I ought to convert to PAL.
Do any of these transcoders have such conversion tools? How about DVD-RB?

Try SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html) or if you have it, Procoder.
