I have a video project given to me. The client has 10 DVDs and wants certain clips from each edited together.

The easiest way for me would be sometype of way to put the DVD in the PC and live capture what is on the screen as it plays.

Basically an overlay recorder. Is there such a thing?

If this is not possible whats the easiest way to get specific video clips off the DVDs without taking too long?

I need to get the clips into Adobe Premiere in AVI format.

Thats great advice for re-authoring DVDs but I need specific footage off DVDs without chapters in AVI format.

CamStudio will do what you want... but on-the-screen recording is NOT ideal.

It's much better to use the recommended DVD Shrink with No Compression to rip the parts of the DVD you need, index them with DGIndex, then make AviSynth scripts for each.

Premiere opens AviSynth scripts, so you're good.

Thats great advice for re-authoring DVDs but I need specific footage off DVDs without chapters in AVI format. It is the surest way to get exactly the clips you want, in their original quality with their original audio.

From that point forward, conversion to .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) is eadilt doable...
