Is there a Linux alternative for the neat AviSynth filters such as Yadif, Undot/Removegrain, Lanczos resize and similar?
Thanks.

Thanks, this one looks nice. Can it be used as a stream engine as well, just like AviSynth?

Yadif was originally written for MPlayer/MEncoder by Micheal Niedermayer and it was later ported to AviSynth and Avidemux. MPlayer also has a variety of scalers, including lanczos, and other useful filters. While MPlayer/MEncoder can be used for many of the tasks AviSynth is used for (and even some more), it isn't a complete substitute. Compared to AviSynth, there is a limited selection of filters and extending them or writing your own is much harder (you'll need to know C, and filters are usually linked statically into the mplayer and mencoder executables).
For simple encoding tasks, I'd suggest taking a look at MEncoder, ffmpeg and Avidemux. If you need filters that aren't available in those tools, or you need to do some advanced scripting, run AviSynth with Wine.

Transcode (http://www.transcoding.org/cgi-bin/transcode) comes close to avisynth in my opinion then mencoder/avidemux does.
