Recently, I upgraded my MeGUI to version 0.2.6.043.

I did rip a small sample in the x264 codec without any problems. However, I had not yet encoded in Xvid.

To upgrade, I uninstalled the previous version...0.2.5.140. However, I don't believe that uninstall would have touched my Xvid encraw file...so I'm at a loss.

I'm using the profile for 30% fast...with these settings:

In Main tab,
only Adaptive Quant is checked...I had unchecked Trellis.
I/P/B mins & max are at 2 & 15 each....

I'm on Vista Ultimate...and I had been using squid80's encraw file ever since my last problem...July 07.

for using xvid_encraw you need to have installed xvid vfw, the aviwriter.dll and iirc the msvcr70.dll

i still have the problem :(

xvid_encraw.exe crashes...for some reason

Does the default 30% Fast profile work? If so, try finding out which of your changes broke it.

Also try encoding from different sources and see if your source is the problem.

i tried another source, and now it says my avisynth is NOT the correct version...says i need 2.5.6 or above...and i have 2.5.7.

so what i'm going to do...is do a COMPLETE uninstall of everything...

first will install avisynth...ffdshow, then VISTA Codecs Pkg...then MeGUI...

you know, strangely enough...the SOURCE was the problem...but WHY would that be so? i don't understand this!

i did check two other sources & they began to encode fine...both in x264 & Xvid...how weird.

I got an error once in xivd_encraw when using a VirtualDub plugin? Do you have one in your AVS script?

^ no...i don't use VD plug-ins...

and NOW my problem is that my Xvid encodes are coming in UNDERSIZED :( any solutions guys?

Yes, completely uninstall & reinstall the xvid codec.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I had thought that might be the case just because re-installing would set the minimum I/P/B quantizers back to 1, meaning less undersizing.
