supposing you're talking about the memory interface (the most common reference for "bits" in a video card), it's the bus size used by the GPU to transfer data from/to the video card memory.

"Quality in movie" is dependent on many other factors then a video card. All from how it was filmed (captured to digital device or camera), mastered and distributed (broadcasted, burned onto optical media etc) and encoded might effect visual impression when later decoded by a computer. Quality is a very difficult word to use in this context as it is in the end how good you are to tweak your hardware like video cards driver for best visual look at your display and how you make use of different setting in the filter chain from splitting to rendering your media file. (I haven't even talked about audio which also is part of the same process.)

What is your purpose with that question? Do plan to buy a video card and wonder what will be best for a HTPC use or are you asking just out of curiosity?

and i have to say i see very good with
video card hd2900 +vista +aero
and i no see good with video card 7800GTX

and i think that the 512 bit on card 2900hd

Both of those features are only useful in any way in games.

A 2900 can play movies with less cpu load than a 7800, all else being equal.

Forget that 2900
If your concern is videos, get yourself a Radeon 2600 or 3850 or 3870. All these have built-in video acceleration for all common codecs: MPEG-2, H.264 and even VC-1. They also feature hardware deinterlacing and noise reduction. That's to say, they have the full set for video!
You may prefer the 2600 if you don't plan to play the latest 3D games, else go with the 38x0 series (by the way, a 3870 is faster than a 2900 for games most of the time)
All these even consume less power than the 2900, so your HTPC will be much quiter than with a 2900.
Indeed, the 2900 has very limited video acceleration support, so your main CPU will have to work much harder, making it much louder ;)
