OK
1. If I have a DVD which will fit on a DVD5 but I want to remove ads logos trailers etc, do I use DVD-RB the same way? ie will it just leave these bits out and not recode thereby taking a shorter time and will the quality be the same as the original.
2. If I forget to remove the audio streams before PREPARE Ive noticed I can access the dialogue box before I ENCODE but it doesnt seem to adjust the size when I remove the streams. Do I have to remove streams before I PREPARE?
3. If I want to get rid of a large audio stream it seems I have to click it "off " ie red cross. but to make the finished DVD sound work OK without having to set it each time I play it I have to go to audio remapping-yes? I then change the removed stream for the one I have left intact. If I just remove the one I dont want then I have to select the one I want everytime I play the DVD.
4. Redistribution. This seems to add a huge amount of time to the whole process, is it worth it?
5. Im using CCE 2.7 now but started off with HC. Even with dual core CPU I found it incredibly slow. Was I doing something wrong?
Phew! that'll do for now Thanks people

1. It will warn you that it will already fit -- just tell it to continue. You can then edit -- and DVD-RB will not reencode, it will only demux and remux as necessary (except for some small stuff that replaces content).
2. Yes. You have to remove audio before PREPARE in order to make DVD-RB account for them properly.
3. If you've chosen to remove the DEFAULT audio stream it is a good idea to remap. Otherwise it will default to silent.
4. It isn't necessary for most discs, but does no harm if you decide to keep it set. REDISTRIBUTION was designed for sources that were either CBR or poorly authoring on the original. It will add about 10 minutes to the PREPARE on my system.
5. Normally the newer version of HC is slower than CCE but it depends on your processor. On a dual core is is only slightly slower (maybe 15%???). On some systems (like Quad processors) it is actually faster when used with "Multiple Encoder Processes" (with multiple processor machines, of course).
