Can IFOedit check or preferably repair existing IFO files, if not then can any other programs do this?

It depends of the problem. Try to load your DVD in PgcEdit. It fixes some relatively common problems, but of course it cannot repair seriously damaged IFOs.

If that doesn't work, you can copy the title VOBs in a new folder, and use IfoEdit's Create IFOs feature to build new IFOs. You will lose your menus and bonuses.
