I have two 700 MB avi/DivX movie files. Call them "movie1.avi" and "movie2.avi".

I want to make a DVD that has a very simple menu: press "1" to watch "movie1.avi", and press "2" toi watch "movie2.avi". The DVD should be playable from a "normal" DVD player you'd find hooked up to a TV set.

I don't want features, frills, bells, whistles, options, customizations, plugins, skins, or choices. I want it to be as simple, easy, fast, straight-forward as possibly imaginable. I want software so easy to use that a Mac user would laugh in scorn at it.

What software should I use to make this DVD with (this is Windows)? Thanks!

I think you can prod nero to do that

Where did you get the AVI files?

You could start with a reasonable title, like "How do I create a simple DVD menu." But, that might bring the reply, "Do you know how to use the search function"?

Have you even tried? I mean, have you burned your AVI files onto disk and stuck them in a DVD player? Every DVD player I know that plays AVIs will give you a menu without you making one.

Or, maybe you mean "How do I turn these 'pirated' AVIs into a standard MPEG2 DVD with a simple menu?" "Standard" DVD players don't play AVI files, so you need not worry about making minus for AVI files.

TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 will import avi's, let you make a standard dvd menu from a set of templates with a few mouse clicks, and then it reencodes the avi's to standard MPEG2 format and burns a fully standards-compliant dvd that will play on any dvd player, even one that's 10 years old. It's 'wizard' interface is about as mac-like as you're going to find on the PC:
