I've recently picked up a Cowon Q5 PMP and as I have DVD-RB Pro I thought I'd put the new(ish) Mobile option into use. Now it does a great job but when I choose any of the pre defined settings the best still gives me black bars top and bottom. The Q5's screen spec is a 5 inch WVGA (800x480) with a video resolution of 720x480, 30fps. Can someone suggest any settings I could use to get the movie to fill the screen. Most movies I process are 16:9.

It has to do some type of "letterboxing" to keep the aspect ratio at the output resolution based upon a 1:1 encode. In order to fill your screen you have to output to the resolution of it. You said it is 800x480. A perfect 16:9 output would be 800x450 -- which means there would have to be 15 black pixels above and below. You can set the output resolution by double clicking on the preset -- and then setting the width and height (I'd recommend you save it to a new name). You can also adjust bitrates, output container, etc.

Which preset are you using?

I'm not sure what you mean by a 720x480 resolution on an 800x480 screen. I guess it stretches the picture horizontally by 11% during playback?
