I have an (older) copy of Mainconcept's MPEG-2 encoder, v1.05. I'm trying to use it to author my own NTSC DVDs, and I have a few questions. I will be playing in standard set-top DVD players.
1.) My source is 23.976fps progressive YV12. Should I encode to 23.976fps progressive, or 29.97fps bottom field first (2:3 pulldown)?
2.) In GOP Structure, I frames are set to 15 and P frames are set to 3. What changes in regard to quality if I increase or decrease those values?
3.) There is a function called Motion search pixel movement. I found this (page 8): http://downloads.mainconcept.com/advanced%20encoder%20settings_en.pdf
Are there any downsides to increasing this?
4.) Can I modify the quantization matrix to H.263 manually without messing up DVD player compatibility?
Thanks very very much :D
