SONY NWZS618SF 8GB MP3 Player [Archive]

Hi everyone

I bought my son a SONY NWZS618SF 8GB MP3 Player for Christmas. He's very happy with it but we have a problem getting video clips to play on it. We've loaded some MPEG4 files on to it, which it is supposed to support but it doesn't recognise them. However it came with a sample MPEG4 clip preloaded on it and that played perfectly. Is there any conversion software out there wich we can use?

Hi!

I have a problem similar to yours, except that I own Thomson A1 player. It should support MPEG4 ASP simple profile 320x240 cbr (about 700kbps) at 20fps and 128kbps MP2 audio. I tried creating videos with such parameters, but no luck in playing. I think there is some issue with the structure of AVI container used.

It comes with software to convert, though, but that software is quite poor as it converts to 20fps by simply dropping frame, making video playback "jumpy".

Back to your question... I can suggest to open preloaded samples with some video-analysing tools like GSpot or Avinaptic, and then try to replicate the properties reported by these programs as accurately as possible (incl. resolution, framerate, bitrate, etc.).
