IFO Comparison + Ratatouille

Did anyone try to do a full ISO backup? When I tried it with RI4M ImgBurn cannot burn the resultant ISO image as it complains that the DISC layer break is set incorrectly.

Also is there an IFO comparison software out there? I would like to compare the original IFOs with the IFOs from all these decryption processes to better understand the DVD structures.

Hi,
try mounting the ISO with e.g. Daemon Tools than use ImgBurn in Build Mode on the mounted folder and set the layer break correct.

The only reason I create an ISO file is so that the disc name/header gets set correctly. Maybe someone can help me. When I choose ISO mode, the resultant copy gets read exactly the same way as original by the Windows Media Player. The MS WMV player then displays the poster image as well as replaces the chapter numbers from Chapter 1 with the chapter name something like Introduction with the chapter timings.

You will understand what I am saying if you put a DVD in your drive and let MS WMV player play it for you. On the left hand side you will see the main movie chapters have now been replaced with text and timing information from the online database.

You can use PGCEdit or (older) IFOEdit to read and display the information contained in IFOs...

Thanks for the info. I can read the IFO using the above mentioned tools but I am more interested in comparing 2 IFO files. This way I can see what has been fixed by the tools when compairing the fixed IFO with the original. It is the best form of learning at least for me.

I've gotten that message before but it seems that it doesn't affect the disc. I've burned with and without the error message and the disc turned out fine.

it depends on the read-ahead capability of your drive. One might be fine another might hick-up at the LB. Always a good idea to put the LB in an area where it doesn't count. ImgBurn usually gives very good recommendations.
