Success cloning DVD's using DVD shrink plus windows Dvd maker

Hi, i joined this forum because the dvd's i was cloning using dvd shrink wouldnt play on my dvd player but would on my comp. I read alot of threads & vista help files & tried every thing, i noticed that other dvd's i had made using windows dvd maker would play on both comp. & the player i have hooked into my tv so i backed up some movie files with dvd shrink then put the video_ts folder into the windows dvd maker program it gave me a message that only certain files had been imported so i thought it will never work but tried it anyway & burned the files to disc resulting in good clones of my movies that play on both my comp. & dvd player. and so its strange to me that windows dvd maker took out a bunch of files but the movie was still there. The movie files i backed up were not protected so i dont knoe if it will work on all movies.

Sounds more like you have media with variable quality. Read and implement this (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49635).

Hi!

It's my guess that whatever burning program you are using with "Windows DVD Maker" is set to burn at a lower speed than that which you are burning via DVD Shrink (either NERO or IMGBurn)...

Thanks for all your help. The movies i was having luck with burning are what i call cheap dvd bought for $1, but when i try to burn some others for instance halloween using dvd shrink + windows dvd maker my burner stops responding every time at 0.5% encoding. does anyone no what i can do about it? I have a emachines with a DVD+- super multi format dual layer optical drive. The windows dvd maker came with vista.

Actually, with regard to DVDs such as "Halloween", I believe your problem is not the BURNING, rather it's a RIPPING problem, in that DVD Shrink (a now outdated ripping program) is not capable of handling newer copy protection schemes.

Try using (freeware) RipIt4me, (freeware) DVFAbHD Decrypter, (commercial) DVD95CopyPro, or (commercial)AnyDVD...

Can anyone recomend good software i can buy which will do everything so the dvd will play on a dvd player that is hooked up to my tv.

I tried DVDFAB HD decrypter 4, but still the same results. I been trying to make copies with my dvd recorder + another dvd player & that's working except for protected dvd's. Has anyone ever tried a gadget called DVD red pro?

I tried DVDFAB HD decrypter 4, but still the same results.Then the DVD that you're trying to backup (presumably still "Halloween") is either physically damaged or dirty - or more likely, neither your "dvd recorder + another dvd player & that's working except for protected dvd's." has the ability to deal with copy protected DVDs.

If you don't already own one, you'll have to purchase a DVD burner for your PC system...

The halloween dvd is unprotected according to the programs i have used so far & it plays just fine. I have a new computer emachines AMD anthion(tm) 64 processor2.4ghz 895ram the drive is dvd + - RW super multi format dual layer.optical drive. Maybe im using the wrong kind of disc to burn on so far i have only tried memorex DVD +R.

1) Please advise, which specific "Halloween" DVD (There have been 4 different releases of the original "Halloween" DVD, plus others for sequels)? What is the full title of the DVD? Which studio(s) is/are named on the label/packaging?

2) The fact that a DVD PLAYS does not mean that it isn't flawed - It can also mean that the player is able to overcome the flaws, while a ripping program requires perfection

John Carpenters Halloween. The night he came home.starz home entertainment 1978 falcon international productins. I have also tried Brand new Dvd's. When i tried copying the halloween movie via dvd player to player it said it was protected, dvd shrink & dvd fab gave a unprotected status. All i know is i just wanted to make backup copies for my own use i sure dont want to break any laws.
