How is this done? Video being blocked?

Ok recently their is a horrible rash of bad video file downloads. Requiring a specific media player or they will not play. How is this done and how can it be undone? They seem to be bitstream packed files.

If these are illegal downloads that you shouldn't be asking about here anyway (Rule 6 (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm)), then it's a scam, conning you into downloading viruses.

What kind of video downloads are you talking about? This is suspiciously scented of rule 6.

Very few video files actually require a specific media player. More information please...
