Curious question about shoot em up.

I had backed up this movie (movie only) with DVDFab awhile ago. I decided to watch it again and was going to play it on my computer (same computer that made the copy). My computer would not even recognize there was a disk in the drive. I have 3 drives, tried it in all 3 and none of them would recognize there was a disk in the drive. I then put it in my daughter's computer and the same thing happened (in both of her drives). I then put the copy in my living room DVD player and it played it fine. I'm going, "WTF".

Any ideas why this is?

Hmm. Inconsistent aside, seems strange it failed in 5 drives on two computers and only with this movie.

Hi, I tried to back up Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. My computer would not even recognize there was a disk in the drive. The DVD is new, clean and good. But the DVD movie only starts in my living room DVD Player too. I heard about that problem with Die Hard 4.0 Movie too. DVD Region 4. Pirates of the Caribbean DVD bought in Wall Mart. I don't know what's happening.

I had backed up it awhile ago with other movie and everything goes ok. ONLY with that Movie Pirates of the Caribbean occurs that problem.
And I tried with other movie and again everything its fine.

Somebody heard about it? I'm guess it is a newest DRM Protection. May be ?

Mike, your burner might be going west. This is why you should always use verify. The TOC may not be able to be read properly by the drive(s). IE. You may have a bad burn.

BTW: This happened to me the other day - all my standalones could read the DVD, but the drive said the disk was empty and reported it as a DVD-RW!!! Ejected and loaded a few more times and the drive could see it. I was happy as it was a home movie that just couldn't be replicated.

HI...after looking for an alternative path to backup my favorites movies ( Pirates of Caribbean 3 - Die Hard 4.0 and the new Ratatouille ) I found some information about the "problem" with my PC-DVD player.
These DVD's Movies really have some encrypted data in the beggining of TOC. So, in PC the DVD MOvie does not play. ONLY in "living-roons" DVD players.

My solution?

DVDFAB 4 Platinum. ( you must unload ANYDVD to run this program)

Using this software, i can backup MAIN MOVIE. The trial version expires in 30 days, but all features in ON. After this time , must pay to use. I tested many softwares, but only DVDFAB 4 Platinum decrypt and backup with success.

I burned the movie again and had no PC playing issues this time. Just one weird burn I guess.

DVDFAB HD Decrypter is a "lite" version of DVDFAB Platinum. It just provides the ripping function but it is completely free.
