I have Nero Recode 3 that can create MP4 H.264 files with chapter points, subtitles and additional audio tracks in the output file.
All my questions below relate to the Nero chapter points, subtitles and additional audio tracks:
1. Are the chapter points, subtitles and additional audio tracks encoded in some proprietary Nero format or is it part of some industry standard/specification/recommendation?
2. If it's not a proprietary Nero standard, what other encoders exist today to include the same information in the MP4 file?
3. If it's not a proprietary Nero standard, what decoders (SW or HW) outside of Nero and FFDShow can handle these.
4. Are there any media streaming devices that support or will support these features?
5. Will these every become a commonly used standard or is this a dead end.
6. Besides Nero, are there any other similar and user friendly applications that have similar features to Nero. I'm thinking of a single GUI tool, not a series of various command line tools and GUIs.
To summarize this, I'm trying to figure out if it's worth to include these extra features in my Nero MP4 files for future when more devices support these features. For Example, as of today, I'm streaming video to PS3 and it doesn't support any of these. But I would be really upset if I encoded without it and than had to re-encode everything in few months because the support for these features would grow in PS3 and other HW and SW devices.
Thank you.
