You know how some DVDs have extra files/folders for PC? Is it possible to get DVD-RB to leave room for them? Say I have a 137MB file. Can I get DVD-RB to leave 140MB free?

You could adjust the sector size in the ini file (make it less than the default).

or you could manually lower the bitrate after the prepare step using the Segment Viewer.

Hi,
I looked at the "hidden settings" post and the numbers don't add up. Unless . . .

I thought that a DVD5 = 4,482 meg (4.482gig) Is this the max for a "data DVD" or is it the max for a "Video DVD" ?

In the hidden settings post, 2236400 * 2048 * 1.015 = 4,539,892 (call it 4.540gig). Is this the size of a "videoDVD" and which do I use if I'm using CCE SP 270 trial ?:

CCETargetSectors= OR TargetSectors= ... ?

BTW: none of the (xxx)TargetSectors= lines are currently in the ini file.

In any case, when I did a 1click, Nero choked on a burn of 4,508 as it sits on my HD. That's after the 1click, I then copied the "extras". Thus, 1click took the VIDEO_TS from 5,180 down to 4,435, then add 55+18 = 4,508 and... no burn!

Anyway, the real question is how to get DVDrb to take a HD dir:
K:\DVD\ --------------------5,253
K:\DVD\name\AUDIO_TS------0
K:\DVD\name\source---------55 (extras)
K:\DVD\name\VIDEO_TS------5,180
K:\DVD\name\ ---------------18 (support files)

and (preferably using 1 click) compress to fit DVD5 for Nero not as an ISO but a subdir so Nero's read verification functions properly)

AND preferably on a disc-by-disc basis, rather than editing rebuilder.ini in DVDrb's program dir on "C", Though editing the ini from time-to time is not a big deal, just gotta remember that that is the method to use.

I've got a couple of others with more/less extras.

For this encode, try inserting in your INI file

TargetSectors=2220000

Do a prepare as usual. After the encode, there should be sufficient room for the other 73Mb of DVD ROM files.

Also, consider using RBOpt or the Sector Viewer to lower the size. Just leave sufficient room for your DVD ROM files.

Ok, tried the segment viewer, but...
Yes it will do the job but not with any precision.
I am using redistribution so reduction is overall which is all I want.
I do keep forgetting about the segment viewer since I mostly use 1.click.
So what is RBOpt ? and, yes I will search Cnet & Google for it.
Thanks for the pointers.
Problem is now solved, just going to keep looking for more exacting methods.
