My current system specs.....

EVGA 680i SLI LT NVIDIA mobo
Core 2 Cuo E6600
4gigs of DDR2 800 (PC-6400)
8500GT NVIDIA graphics card with 512 RAM on that
Antec Trio 650 PSU

Current settings on paths
TEMP is D drive my internal slave 298 gig
Final is the same as the temp but I have a folder marked final

This error occurs when it is time to rebuild or encode I think??

Although I am using CCE basic (free it says I chose HC? Is that better?

I am really new to this program but not new to backing up DVD's. If I forgot to supply a piece of information feel free to ask that I supply it.

:thanks:

Not sure if it's related to your error, but upgrade AVISynth to 2.5.7.

It's happening in REBUILD while trying to copy some files from the source to the destination... it looks almost as if the disc has been unmounted.

There is no encoding being done, everything is extracted.

That is weird updated to the newest AVISYNTH 2.5.7.0 the same. As for the drive umounting that is weird as well as this is a physcal drive not virtual.

Maybe I have the settinga a bit off as I just want to use this to read encode and make an ISO only. I have it set to save as an ISO but I haven't messed aroung to set the path and that might be my error?

Post your REBUILDER.INI file, that might help point us in the right direction.

Thanks still learning the workings here but found it quickly. I am on Vista 64 bit to if that makes a difference. Also I tried a non compressed DVD and got some error on that one to. I'll post the errors at the bottom of this post.

You don't have a path to CCE setup. DVDRB can't use CCE if it doesn't know where to find it.

go to start menu > programs > DVD rebuilder pro > Extras (addons) > CCE and ProCoder - configuration

Configure your CCE setup and try again.

There's no need to point to CCE as he uses HC encoder (very first post)... ;)

@Dr. Who
Are you running RB as administrator on vista?

I'm thinking he chose CCE but it defaulted to HC when it couldn't find CCE? If you refer to the screenshot he posted you can see where DVDRB says it can't find and run the encoder during phase II. Then he gets the runtime error during phase III.

jdobbs

According to his INI file he has CCE selected -- and no path.

Rippraff
7th January 2008, 14:21
I should have read the text more carefully, just looked at the logs. :o

As jdobbs stated it's strange that CCE is selected according to the ini (mode=1) and the log says
- HC v0.22.0.0 encoder selected
:confused:

It looks like the INI has been manipulated manually. If there is no CCE path specified, the CCE option isn't enabled and you couldn't select it.

@Dr. Who

I'd suggest you start over from scratch with the installation and overwrite the INI file.

Sorry, but this might not be true.

I've just checked my inis (I do have 2 versions of 1.26.6 installed on my system - the update one and the installer version). In both there's no entry for CCEBasic= although I can see a setup entry which points to CCT2.EXE. :confused:

Maybe you've changed something according to - Corrected an error in which having CCE SP2 installed by
itself did not activate the "CCE Mode" under the ENCODERS
menu.
and CCE basic will be read from the registry as well now?

I'm currently running a test prepare with CCE basic without the ini line and it worked. But HC is used for redistribution although "always use HC for redistribution" is unchecked.

@Dr. Who
Maybe you can try this first:
Settings => Setup => Check if there's an entry for CCE Basic which points to CCT2.EXE.
If there's no one, point to it. If it's already there click on the folder icon, choose CCT2.EXE and confirm with 'open' => OK

Now a new line will be written to your RB.ini
Start from scratch and see if it works.

Edit: And concerning the run-time error '76':
Make sure that both directories D:\DVDTEMP\ and D:\DVDFINAL\ are still present!

Thanks for the info I was thinking of this as well. I'll get on this a bit later and if it works or not I'll let everyone know.

As for the CCE ordeal it was selected but I thought the install of DVDR would set the path in the instillation? I use snagit so when I do the clean install I'll take screen shots as well as I could of set it up wrong.

@Rippraff

DVD-RB will find the path in the registry for any software that puts it there. The idea is to get away from the user having to find them.

@Dr. Who

DVD-RB defaults to HC Encoder. The only way DVD-RB would set it to CCE by default is if it found it during installation -- and then a path would have been entered in the INI.

jdobbs
7th January 2008, 17:03
@Rippraff

HC will always be used for REDISTRIBUTION with CCE Basic (regardless of the setting and as long as HC is installed), because CCE Basic has no OPV capability.

I don't think I can get these two answers together.
If RB find CCE basic in the registry why do you have to point to it during installation?
I can only say that it doesn't matter in my case whether the CCEBasic= line is in the ini or not. CCE Basic must be installed of course. :p

Unfortunately Dr. Who has ignored my post so we still don't know, if there's a setup entry for CCE Basic at all.

I didn't install any encoder. I got the same again after uninstalling and running ccleaner and advanced windows care personal. However the error line 76 no longer appears now with the clean install. I thought there was a CCE Encoder installed? I tried to change the CCE to HC and then then same error comes up as well. I am going to do another clean install right now.

As for admin rights that is set up too. So I have no idea what post I ignored sorry.

Cu RippraffYou can use the INI to point to a different version, or in case the software wasn't actually installed via the CCE installer (and the registry isn't set up). If the line is set in the INI it overrides anything found in the registry.

OK below is all the steps I took on the clean install note I didn't include every window as that was not needed I thought. I don't own any encoders and use the one(s) included with DVD Rebuilder Pro and even though I don't own one I made a path for if I do as that has to be installed it says. I seen there are some encoders that can be downloaded on the main website should I get the HC one since I don't have CCE?

These are in order on how they appeared during the install.

...should I get the HC one since I don't have CCE? HC is installed with DVD-RB all you have to do is select it from the MODE/Encoder menu. The interesting thing is that it should be selected by default.

Dr. Who

It is wanting to use CCE even though I select HC so it is weird and wonder if this might be just an issue with Vista Ultimate 64 bit?

I am going to try again as told it to use the HC encoder.

Dr. Who

It seems to be encoding now so that's a plus. Will keep you advised and thanks for everyones help on this matter.

jollyrogr
7th January 2008, 20:52
You DO have CCE installed don't you? You can't use CCE unless you install it - it's not part of the DVDRB install. If you don't have CCE, just select HC.

Rippraff
7th January 2008, 21:02
I thought there was a CCE Encoder installed?Maybe here's a big misunderstanding. CCE doesn't come with RB, it's a commercial encoder like Procoder and besides the basic version really expensive too.

So, if you don't own any CCE version, "automatic configuration" for CCE/Procoder should be unmarked during installation setup.
It doesn't harm but won't find any as can be seen in your screenshot above.

@jdobbs
Thanks for the clarification. :)

Just a update on the progress and to say it was completed this time. Thanks to all that did offer suggestions. Learned allot the past few days now on this and what is asked to help trouble shoot as well. My only question is right now I have a standard TV I will be getting a 47" or bigger soon is there a difference in using the HC over getting the CCE?

is there a difference in using the HC over getting the CCE?

There's not much difference (though you'll find partisans of each encoder). You might check out this recent thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=130134).

@Dr Who

From your 4th pic, you can untick CCE/Procoder (it does say ONLY if you have them).

Let's not get into a what's best debate, because opinions vary. My opinion is that CCE is not all that flash at low BRs. HC is just an excellent product and even though I have ProCoder (which IMHO is sensational at lower BRs), more and more I am turning to HCEnc. It is well worth some experimentation.

Probably a bit off topic here.........
I'm at work right now and cannot look at HC encoder installed in DVD-RB, but is HC a multi pass encoder?
This just shows my ignorance of the whole DVD Backup process because I thought that HC did the redistribution phase and another piece of software did the encoding..............what a diddy!!

Yes, HC supports two-pass encoding. It is a very, very good encoder. It is used for REDISTRIBUTION for other encoders that don't necessarily support one-pass constant quality encoding.

Just for clarity, does two phase encoding mean:
one phase for redistribution and then one phase encoding
OR
one phase for redistribution and then two phases for encoding?

Hope this is clear

Cheers

Two passes for encoding. The redistribution phase allocates available space between segments. Multiple passes allocates within a single encode (a single segment).

No, it is 2 pass, in additon to the (optional) redistribution phase. Think of the first pass as an "analysis" phase and the 2nd as the writing the m2v phase. You can set it for one pass, though, if you like.

Please post your REBUILDER.INI file so we can see what might be up...

Is the disc still present in the source drive (or mounted)?

??? It looks like you haven't selected a source. There's no "SOURCE" statement in the "[Paths]" area and the label is "No Selection".

You still need to point to the source for the REBUILD.

BTW, what O/S are you using?

im using vista business 32bit, source is selected as it encodes fine from it. Can i manually set the source in the ini?

edit :- for some reason my output folder got deleted, doh. i thought it was the encode that was messed up so spent yesterday reencoding the source half a dozen times :)
