well folks i was making a .d2v for one of my dvd"s and this is the error which i am getting in DGIndex

i analysed all the .vob"s one by one in vdub and got stream errors in only one of them .. this is the error which i got ..

i tried fixing the dvd using FIXVTS and again tried to make the .d2v but to no avail as i got the exact same error , i thought the .vob with the stream error was causing this problem but what is more confusing is that i tried making the .d2v again without that specific .vob ( all these .vob"s are already fixed by FIXVTS ) but even then also i got the same exact error even without the .vob which had the steam errors :confused: .. also seems FIXVTS wasnt able to fix it .. any idea anyone :confused: ?

P.S : No other .vob in the dvd has the same error or any sort of stream error .. what is more confusing is that even without that .vob am getting the same error :confused:

What is the DVD title and region and how did you rip it?

Can you post a link to a VOB or M2V fragment that I can use to duplicate the problem?

it is an indian dvd named hum hain rahi pyaar ke (1993) and it is region free , i simply copied and pasted it of the dvd9 .. it wasnt encrypted so didnt need to decrypt , but it is a retail dvd9 .

here i cut out a mpeg2 sample from the .vob from which i was getting stream error"s from .. a more wierder thing is that i made a .d2v of this and also opened this in vdub and didnt get any error what so ever :/ oh well :confused: .. here"s the link

That sample does not produce the "Too many pictures per GOP" error. I'm not interested in the PTS discontinuities, as it is likely just bad authoring. If you want help with the "Too many pictures per GOP" error, you'll have to post a link to a sample that fails that way. Again though, it's likely bad authoring. By seeing it I may be able to give you a workaround.

I see that it is field structured. I have seen this error produced when top and bottom fields are not matched, i.e., one is missing, usually at a cut. With the sample I may be able to develop an automatic workaround. OItherwise, you'll have to cut the orphaned field with a binary editor.

well it was really tough to make a sample .. no matter what i did and cut , the scene which come out was all fine and didnt have this error , also fixed all the .vob"s one by one .. the only one left now with the error is the one with stream error"s (and that is the scene from where i took the sample lol ) .. zeroed down on it and FINALLY after 2 hours of looking around for it found it :D .. here"s the sample link , this gives that error , hope you are able to fix it nueron2 and yes it happens between a scene change , also one more weird problem is that it occur"s RIGHT in the middle of the original 1 gb .vob , hope it can be fixed without cutting the scene/frames in the original .vob ..

The VOB is too screwed up (illegal MPEG2), so I'm not interested in fixing this.

You can use VirtualDub MPEG2 to open all the VOBs and then apply a deinterlacer.

illegal mpeg2 :S :eek: .. how can u say that :/ .. this is a retail dvd9 from my personal collection which i bought lol .. are u saying i was thugged :confused: :S :( also if ur confused the audio bitrate and are sayin on its basis that it is illegal then ur wrong as the original ac3 stream on the dvd9 is 320 kbps itself ? also i dont have a good idea about vdub .. i am only able to deinterlace using avisynth imo .. could you help me out on how to fix this thing in vdub (deinterlacing :confused:) and will it help ?

P.S : Also the source seems to be having a 3i/4p with the 3rd p is having blends (considered after analysing whole source ) pattern so it needs to be pulled down to 25fps and deblend ? .. can u guide me there on how to do that in vdub :confused: and again the question arises that will it be able to fix this ?

ohk so after searching around i finally got to know what neuron2 and alfixdvd meant to say , after searching around i finally came to a thread which had almost the same problem as mine and was answered to in detail ... here"s the link

so this means that i have to use some thing named TAC EDITOR which nueron2 mentioned over there in that specific thread or i have to use a hex editor to fix it as it is done there too , will you please have a look into this nueron2 and if possible please point and help me out on how to fix this thing using the hex editor .. :thanks: in advance :p

There's also a chance that your rip was bad. Did you get any errors when copying the files?

LoL ! dead brain hehe , yeah your true this isnt the only occurance in the dvd :/ and yeah it would really be too tedious to do as there are around 9 occurances in total :( and no i didnt face any sort of error whilst copying this onto my hdd , seems shit authoring was the cause lol anyways thanks a LOT for your help nueron2 , appreciate a LOT for it and i also learnt a lot :p :D btw the i"ve chucked the dvd9 and now wont work on such a shit dvd9 hehe .. again :thanks: a LOT ! :)
