SmartRipper 2.41 No Work with Pioneer DVR-112D?

I'm wondering if there is something in the hardware of my new Pioneer DVR-112D that prevents ripping of DVD movies, because Smartripper 2.41 issues this error:
"No keys found to encrypted file!" during a backup process.

I had to rip the DVD on my older machine (also running XP SP2 and Smartripper 2.41) which has a Pioneer DVR-A06. It rips fine over there with no issues.

I rebooted the new quad core machine and tried to rip again, knowing that the disc ripped in the older machine, but again, same error.

Is the firmware on newer DVD burners equipped with some anti-ripping code? Why can't my DVR-112D rip DVDs?

That particular error seems to be exclusive to one old title from 1971.

However, I tried ripping a newer (Disney) title as a test, and got a different error:

"List index out of bounds (2)"

I was able to repeat that error on both machines with both burners.

This was after that initial screen that lists all the VOBs that it successfully decoded.

I was able to rip another DVD (Final Fantasy) with no issues on the suspect machine.

So there's something peculiar about that 1971 movie, remastered in 1999 on DVD.

Smartripper is a very old tool. Have you tried any other software?

The newer Disney releases contain "RipGuard" copy protection, that SmartRipper is not capable of processing properly. This has nothing to do with which of your systems/burners you use to read it.

As suggested by "Dialysis1", use a newer ripping program, such as RipIt4me, DVDFabHDDecrypter, DVD95CopyPro, AnyDVD, etc.

Stranger things have been known to happen in the world of reading/ripping DVDs ;>}

Try cleaning the DVD.

I'm curious to know - What is the Title of the problematic DVD?

Perhaps "The Last Picture Show" or "Carnal Knowledge"?
