My mkv muxers are either AVI-mux GUI or mkvtoolnix (latest versions). My source streams are 1080p mpeg2, avc, or vc-1... and DTS 1.5Mbps (compact, 48 kHz) as created in SurCode or eac3to. I should also probably mention I have 8600 GTS video card, core2 extreme 6800, etc. Latest version of Haali, too.

If I play any of the individual streams by themselves they play fine. For my purposes, playback *must* be in WMP 11 and/or MCE 2005. Specifically, all the video files play smoothly. The DTS streams play back fine by themselves. If I mux just one video or audio stream into .mkv (or .mka), this also plays back smoothly and fine. If I mux any of the video streams with an AC3 stream, playback is smooth and perfectly in-sync throughout.

This breaks down with a video/DTS mux. The mux completes fine. But in playback in WMP 11 or MCE 2005, the video playback is ever-so-slightly jumpy. It's a teeny hiccup every 2-3 seconds. The DTS audio bistream does not jump and is maintained solidly. I am setting all framerates, timecodes, etc., properly in my muxing programs. If I playback in MPC, it plays fine.

As I previously mentioned, a mux with AC3 always works perfect and playback is perfect.

This jumpy playback behavior I can recreate on at least 4 of my machines consistently and with every single DTS stream I have tried. I do not know if this is a bug per se or just peculiar behavior in my own specific environment. I can provide samples if interested.

Thanks.

codecs I have tried are ffdshow audio or NVIDIA audio decoder; I have tried ffdshow for video (vc-1) as well but this did not change things. NVIDIA video decoder (mpeg2) and/or Cyberlink video decoder (h264/avc) is what I use most often. complete reinstalls of the codec(s) didn't help. Haali reinstalled too...

Finally got it to work with the Spdifer. Interestingly, ffdshow nor AC3filter did not work 100% of the time.
