Fuk2k, any update on when you plan on realising the source code for this project? I'd like to port it to linux.
Thanks,
Hunter

Due to my inability to work on it for such a long time, recently I've been considering a source release. However, I haven't made a decision about that yet. Bug me again in a month or two if nothing has happened by then.

Don't stone me because of this... But I would hate it to see FairUse go open source... Open source don't mean that the program will stay alive and get better. But it surely means that alot of programmers will start to get those nice code snippets from fu2k :) .
The only program that lastet after the original program stopped supporting it is/was Mpeg2avi from Squig... Awa made a great update and PX3 took over Awas project... All those other "upgrades" and "better" versions are just playing around without any real effect.
So, pray for the motivation of fu2k...
Cheers,
Mijo.

I second that!
Most open source turn out to be a nightmare due to lack of a leader. I like the original FU idea, that is to find someone who is able to carry on with his project. Otherwise I would rather wait.
Plus Fu is pretty stable, besides a few ac3 and ifo parsing bug. If you want to use a different codec, then it is a different story.

"Most open source turn out to be a nightmare due to lack of a leader."
That's normally when the project is abandoned by the original programer. There are a number of projects that just split into two excellent projects due to the source code being available. Look at virtual dub and nan dub.

Just finally got back online after a couple months offline, sure was hoping the source was released so I could play with this program in my spare time.
