Hi all !
I'd like to know how to play a stereo ogg file as a 5.1 file. I found on the web that I coul use on the fly dolby pro logic 2 to achieve such a task but I didn't found anything for Linux. I can remmeber that FFDshow under windows had such a matrix which was used to hear dolby pro logic 2 file from a stereo mp3.
Any ideas for a matrix for mplayer or xine ?
Thanks

While i was reaseaching a bit. I found this, even though i'm pretty well versed in Linux sound i've never heard about it before and i will try to get it to work later: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Dolby_Digital_and_DTS#On-the-fly_Dolby_Digital_Encoding
Originally I was going to write about the -af pan= filter in mplayer. (see man mplayer) but I thought the above might suit you better?

You can use MPlayer filters center, sub and surround to generate the additional channels. However, these new channels won't be subtracted from the original front channels, so the result is not the same as what you would get from a real Dolby Pro Logic software decoder. Usually people with surround speakers have hardware decoders, so this is not a very frequently asked feature.
