View Full Version : Black Screen watching XviD

Hi,

I have been using K-Lite Codec Pack for my codecs and up till recently I had been using version 1.52.

However I recently upgraded to 3.57 and now for some reason my XviD files won't display.

When I open them its just a black screen, I get the audio though!

Is there something I am doing wrong?

I am almost a complete n00b when it comes to stuff like this, but I have checked the codec in ffdshow video decoder.

I have tried both XviD and libavcodec. Both produce the same results.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Stu

Please,

Does no-one have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Is there anyway I could convert my XviD videos to DivX as they work ok?

Be patient.

I definitely wouldn't transcode the Xvids in DivX. Unnecessary quality loss.

Uninstall K-Lite, and uninstall any other codecs and codec packs. Then either get a recent ffdshow tryouts build (will decode everything, very fast and clean), or Xvid 1.1.3 (decodes Xvid, DivX, 3ivx, all MPEG-4). K-Lite causes too many problems...

If you don't want to go that far, you can play the file in VLC Media Player. But K-Lite will probably give you more problems further down the line.
