View Full Version : What can batch re-encode MP3's with pitch shift?

I have 12GB of FLAC's, actually, that I need pitched down a couple percent and transcoded to MP3. I can't just decode to WAV and use an audio editor because unless I'm wrong, I'll lose all tags.
As in the thread title, I guess what I could also do is transcode to MP3 without compression, then batch re-encode if that's my only option.
Any ideas?

Try Foobar2000 with the Soundtouch (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components_0.9/Soundtouch_(foo_dsp_soundtouch)) plugin, that should do the trick. I've never used that particular plugin before myself, but Foobar's pretty good for mass-converting flac to mp3 directly (or ogg, or aac/m4a, or several other formats) while carrying over tags to the new files and I merely assumed that such a 3rd party dsp plugin would exist, and 2 seconds worth of googling turned up this one.
One caveat, it may be a bit tricky to get everything set up, especialled if you're unfamiliar with Foobar, but once you know what you're doing it's a breeze.

Of course. I always forget about Foobar, thanks.

It appears that Soundtouch doesn't apply the playback setting during transcode-- the playback is at the proper pitch (or "rate"), but the resulting MP3 is still at it's original pitch.

With Foobar2000 v0.9 there are two different DSP settings: one to Play and other to Convert. You need define the Soundtouch parameters in Convert -> Convert to ... -> check DSP Processing and configure with (...)
