AC3 in Saving Private Ryan is WAY out of sync

Hi there. I'm doing a 3-CD rip of Saving Private Ryan, and I'm preserving the 6-channel dolby digital audio track.

In Nandub, both the audio and video tracks line up at 23.976 fps, yet it sounds as if the audio track is at 0:44:00.00 in the movie when the video is at 0:30:00.00.

I'm using the Smartripper version that came with Gordian Knot 0.21 Full, 0.23 update, same with DVD2AVI.



I encountered the same problem ripping "Pearl Harbor". I tried to combine the VOBs from the 2 DVDs (they split the 180 minute movie onto 2 discs), GKnot them, and in the end I had a movie that was way out of sync. I ended up ripping the first 122 minutes onto a 1400 meg file, and the last 54 minutes (the second DVD) onto a 700 meg file. The sync was fine. I notice that Saving Private Ryan is a dual layer DVD-could it be the same problem?

Interleave: 42ms (as GKnot recommended)
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy! Platinum
Software DVD Player Installed: PowerDVD XP 4.0 (not the demo)

Hi!
I have notice this to when the DVD is on 2 side.Both Armageddon and Air Force One(PAL).The sound was out of synch 2-3 sec. after the side switch.So i have to cut of 3sec black frames that appears after the sideswitch then it was fine.Just a tips...

At 2:12:??.00, I hear in the audio track "Sir, I have my own orders. They don't include me abandoning my post." But that scene is at 1:48:06.00 on the video track. So it would seem that my audio is delayed about 24 minutes at that point.

How can I tell which VOB file is on layer 2, and which VOB is on layer 1?

You must have done something wrong,maybe you have missed a Vob file in the DVD2AVI project when you choose ADD for the second DVD side.
I dont know
Check if the avi and the sound is in same lenght.

It's not a two-sided DVD. It's a DVD with one side that has two layers.

Video Stream:
10167.125 Seconds (2:49:27)
243767 Frames
23.976 FPS

Audio Stream: (Had to use Creative Playcenter to find info about it)
2:49:27 Seconds

This is perplexing. The audio and video streams seem to be the same length. There shouldn't be a problem.

I'm trying something different now: I'm going to encode all 7 SPR vobs separately (So I'll have 7 DivX files), then I'll append them. Maybe that will work.

It's VOB 7/7. I encoded all the VOB files to DivX individually. I can append up to the 6th DivX, so long as I resync to 23.978 fps, but once I append the 7th DivX, the sound goes crazy again. Individually, though, the 7th DivX plays fine. Nandub reports that the 7th DivX syncs at 23.976 fps.

Ah well. It's a mystery. I spent 2 days ripping all these different, nonworking Divx'es of SPR, now I'm going to go downstairs and microwave myself some popcorn and enjoy my movie :D
