DivX on WMP11

I've tried to play some .divx files, taken from Stage6, on my wmp11 and they didn't play, no codec problem because they play fine on mpclassic. Worst of problems i cant share them in wmp to my 360 and PS3, i share the folders but it seams that they are not recognized, any help on this?

Rename your files to .avi and they should play in WMP11.

(WMP11 can play .divx after some registry tweaks, but renaming is easier and .divx files are AVI container)

Right click the file. Select "Open With..." Windows Media Player. Make default if you want to.

How did you change your files to .avi? I have this same problem but they always remain named like TheEarthMand.avi.divx....how do i get rid of the .divx at the end?...Update: I got my .divx files to appear in WMP 11 library under the category of other media. How do i transfer them to the videos category to stream to xbox 360?

You might have hidden known file extensions:

Yes, you have to select the "show known file type extentions", other ideia is to create the extencion on "the save as" menu
