Mpeg 2 recordings to a DVD but as HDDVD format

Morning folks,

I don't know which subforum to choose. Hopefully guys, you can assist me.

I have mpeg 2 recordings from mythtv that I would like to burn but as HDDVD. I got interested when I burned an .iso from http://www.w6rz.net to a 4.7g. I inserted it to my HDDVD A2 player and it was detected as HDDVD as shown on the LCD panel. But anyways, I downloaded a trial version of Ulead MovieFactory 6 and I was able to make an HDDVD but unfortunately, there was no sound.

I would like to do a total linux route. What are the tools that I need so I can author an mpeg 2 file to an HDDVD format and finally to an .iso file?

If Ulead Movie Factory made a sound, it was perfect and I will buy it. Unfortunately, it failed me. Oh, when I added the file, I clicked play button and it had sound. The iso that it made when I played it on vlc didn't contain any sound.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got it to work guys. I was able to save an mpeg-2 file, actually it's Heroes from NBC which is 1920x1080. I was able to create an .iso file using Trial Version of Ulead Movie Factory 6. Then I burned it on a DVD media. I inserted it to my HDDVD and it was detected as HDDVD as displayed on the LCD. However, the sound is choppy but video playback is smooth. If I pause it then unpause, sound will become normal for 10-15 seconds and becomes choppy again.

I ftp'd the iso file to my linux and I used mplayer to play it, so far playback is flawless. Video and audio playback is 99% clean. Could it be that I use DVD Decrypter and Deepburn to write the .iso image to DVD media? Or is there a video bit rate that I should follow? I've tried 25000 and 13000 but both is still choppy when burned.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Video bitrate may well cause problems during playback, since AFAIK the maximum bitrate allowed on DVD is 9800kbps. I am not sure whether a particular player may cope with higher bitrates, though.

However, the minimum I can select from MovieFactory is 10300 something. Again, it's an HDDVD format. Or maybe, I should convert my mpeg 2 to mpeg 4 and recreate the iso. So guys, what tool should I use to convert mpeg2 to mpeg4?
