I am using KDVDs which are basically DVDs. I am using the latest version of the original TMPGEnc software (NOT Xpress). For some reason when I encoded PAL xvids to PAL DVDs the speed is very quick, under 2 hours per movie. But if I try and encode NTSC xvids to NTSC DVDs then the time shoots up to 6 hours per movie. I use the KDVD templates.
Does anyone have any idea why this is ? It is getting frustrating waiting 6 hours per encode for NTSC but blistering fast for PAL copies.
Is there any reason for this ? Is it something to with converting 23 frame movies to DVD compliance ? Any idea how, using the same software, I could speed up NTSC to NTSC encodes ?
EDIT : I have just done some testing and I find that encoding NTSC to PAL is really fast too. This is confusing though, there seems to be some kind of bottleneck on doing NTSC to NTSC encodes.
P.S ? I also noticed when encoding my Quad Core 6600 encodes twice as fast as my 6400 Dual Core, yet TMPGEnc doesn't support over 1 cores. Any idea why this is ? Is the 6600 really that much faster then the 6400 for single core operations ? Both PCs have same RAM and OS.
