Decode WMV-VC1 in Virtualdub

Hi everyone,

just as the title says:

I'm using Virtualdub (With the WMV Plugin from coding-god fcchandler ;) ) to convert some WMV's to DivX/XviD. Works fine with the older Versions of the codec (WMV 9, 8 ect.) but I have some problems with the new WMV (VC-1) and WMA (Media Audio 9) stuff.

Virtualdub gives me a message on the audio part (Codec-ID unknown) and this means no audio.

On the Video part it seems to work using the latest fddshow and setting fddshow to decode vc-1. But there are still some bugs (Sometimes it gets very blocky, sometimes everything is fine).

So any help would be appreciated.

Forgot: No, the WMV's are NOT DRM infested.

Install ffdshow. Select the VFW option during install and set it to handle WVC1.

Your solution does work however unfortunately ffdshow's VFW Interface doesn't support "audio codecs" mapping and so there's no way to handle Windows Media Audio's Professional, Lossless and Voice codecs...

As the name implies, VFW is for Video encoding/decoding, not for Audio :p
VirtualDub uses ACM for the audio decoding, so you will need to find a suitable ACM Codec...

i am searching for the suitable acm for (0x0162 Windows Media Audio 9 Professional)

although i'm using AviSynth to load WMV multimedia in virtual Dub , I can't encode Audio ....

But... You try use Conversion... - change Precision and Channels?

i tried that ,, and it failed
even " direct stream copy" doesn't work
after encoding i have only video
i think that means the problem is with ACM

can't you open the .wmv file in belight and have that one convert the audio to mp3 and then mux it together with the xvid?

Although I know I've tried re-encoding wmv audio to mp3 before and muxing with xvid and the sync never works, and I've tried dilation with ms and all that, it's tricky alright :o
