Hi
Ive had a problem with a few movies I tried to encode to wmv from DVD. The movies playback fine on the DVD but once I ripped them demuxed (with dvddecrypter) to one m2v and one ac3 and encoded them to WMV (using ProCoder 2) I get these "glitches". The video goes all crazy and pixelated for a few seconds and after that the audio is unsynced.
Since the DVD plays fine Im thinking the problem is the way I rip/encode the movie and not the movie itself. Does anyone have a clue what I could do to encode a file without the glitches?
If anyone knows why the glitches occur an explaination would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi!
It sounds like you may have some bad frames in the .M2V file and possibly on your original DVD.
Although "the DVD plays fine", it may still be flawed. Many DVD players do a good job of compensating for such flaws on playback.
Have you played the .M2V file to see if it displays problems?
What's the Title and Region of your original DVD?

The M2V has the same flaws as the encoded file. Does this mean that I ripped it the wrong way?
The DVD is "Death at a Funeral" Region 2.

The M2V has the same flaws as the encoded file. Does this mean that I ripped it the wrong way? What that only means is that we've eliminated anything to do with the backup copy as a source of the problem. Your problem may lie with the original DVD and/or your ripping methodology.
Forgive me for being a bit confused but, according to Amazon.uk (and many other outlets):Fox Home Entertainment have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Death at a Funeral on 25th February 2008 ???
If yours is "other than an official" copy, it's likely the source of the problem you're experiencing - and it would be a violation of the Doom9 Forum rules to discuss it any further...

I work with a video on demand-service in Sweden. The distribution rights of this movie in Sweden belong to Scanbox Entertainment (www.scanbox.dk) which is one of the many companies we work with. The Swedish release date for the DVD (and the VOD) is December 31st 2007 and I of course get it before that in order to have time to encode it and so on.
The DVD I have is the actual retail region 2 DVD Scandinavian version.
What Ive done so far is use DVDDecrypter in order to pull the m2v and ac3 (demuxed). By doing so I get the glitches. Could you please recommend any other way of ripping the movie that may get rid of them?
How can it be that a movie that plays fine in a DVD-player goes all funny like this once put on my harddrive? Isnt it the same mpeg-stream playing on my TV?

How can it be that a movie that plays fine in a DVD-player goes all funny like this once put on my harddrive? As I said before, although "the DVD plays fine", it may still be flawed. Many DVD players do a good job (better than PC hardware/software) of compensating for such flaws on playback.I work with a video on demand-service in Sweden. The distribution rights of this movie in Sweden belong to Scanbox Entertainment (www.scanbox.dk) which is one of the many companies we work with. The Swedish release date for the DVD (and the VOD) is December 31st 2007 and I of course get it before that in order to have time to encode it and so on.So, if I understand correctly, you are trying to convert this to .WMV for your firm's VOD distribution of it and not for your personal consumption? If this is so, have your firm get you a different copy of the DVD and try again...

Hi,
To discard DVDDecrypter flaws, I suggest demux your movie with other tool.
You can use Regig

or DGMPGDec
