Hi all,

I'm trying to add a preset to one of my scripts for the Zune. However I cannot find any information about the H.264 profile(s) it supports. I know the Zune supports only a resolution of 320x240 but what about the H.264 settings? Which profile does it support?

From this site http://www.dvdtozune.com/specifications.html there's only this about its video support

* WMV, MPEG4, H.264 codec;
* Bit rate for video is not certain now;
* 320 by 240 pixel resolution. (Microsoft is discussing the options for higher resolution video support)

* Zune Video: unprotected MP4 (MPEG-4), H.264, WMV up to 320x240 pixel, 1.5Mbps video bitrate, 30fps, 192Kbps audio, 44.1kHz.
* Zune Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC up to 320Kbps, 48kHz sample rate.

I'm on Linux and use MEncoder for the encoding job.

Probably nothing more than ipod profile.

so that's a Baseline profile (3.0???) without B-Frames and CABAC, right?

ahh ok, after more searching on Google, I found this about the Zune - http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/compare.htm

H.264 video[5] – Baseline Profile up to 2.5 Mbps peak video bit rate; 720 pixels x 480 pixels up to 30 frames per second (or 720 pixels x 576 pixels up to 25 frames per second)
