Nero now has a plug in. A number of the editing programs say You can author hd disks with them. Has anyone used these new consumer level tools? What was your experience like?

IMO..they all pretty much suck and are hit and miss. But this was the way when DVD-Video was new as well. As the specs mature so will the tools.

How hit and miss? IMO a lot of the pro-sumer DVD authoring software is still pretty hit and miss. The first gen of any commercial software is bound to be awful, but how awful is it? If you wrestle with it long enough is there enough going on with the current consumer software that you could end up with something worth wild? All the companies seem to hide the specifics of their products, it's frustrating.
