Use of x.264 encoded clips for commercial purpose

Hi

We are a small company specializing in signal processing software.

We have recently received an order from a company asking us to provide H.264 encoded clips. So they will be providing us a DVD of the movie to be encoded. We will encode it and send the encoded clip to them.

We will be using x.264 to encode these clips. Since we won't be giving out any software whatsoever (we will be only providing encoded content), I think we are not violating GPL license.

Or are we? Are there any legal problems involved in doing this?

No, you aren't violating the GPL, but you should check MPEG LA for possible royalties that need to be paid since x264 developers can't do that for you.
