Hello everyone, I have been lurking around this site, learning as much as I can, and I want to thank everyone for their contributions thus far.
For the last few months or so, I have been capturing tv shows with my Plextor "Convertx" tv capture device. This captures analog cable tv directly to Divx format. I have quite a number of episodes, and am starting to run out of room on my HTPC.
Rather than expand my 1TB of HD space, I am looking into making episodic DVD's to archive these shows.
To this end, I have purchased the software "Womble MPEG Video Wizard" as it converts the .avi files that I already have, into mpeg2, allows me to easily remove commercials, and also offers limited menu creation, all in a basically easy-to-use format. (i am an electrician by trade, and by no means a
video engineer, so some of the user interfaces of the other programs are quite daunting, to say the least)
I am having a problem with womble recognizing the individual episodes; it seems to just lump them all together as one file/movie. Which is okay- I can live with that; but I would like to have the option to play all episodes, *and* be able to select which episode to play.
I figure that setting chapter points (begin chapter at beginning of episode, end chapter at end of episode) would work, but I can't figure out how to do this in womble, or if it is even available as a feature.
What I have now is a dvd image with one video, comprised of 6 episodes, that run one after the other, no way to select which episode.
In the future, I am going to use a different capture card- .avi/divx is nice, as it does save room on the HD, but I would rather not have to re-encode it to remove commercials, and put it on dvd for use in a regular dvd player.
In summation:
I use Womble MPEG Video Wizard -DVD to remove commercials and convert captured tv shows to dvd format video. I would like to add episodes of the shows to a dvd for archival and playback purposes, but womble seems to only put all the episodes into one video file; if there is a way to set chapter points in womble, I can't find it, so I have no way of navigating between episodes, other than fast forward...
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
