eh... it's not easy to "automate" all the decisions and it's also difficult to predict all possible questions for all possible cases.
what you've wrote is the "ultimate" wizard graphical interface... but i have serious doubts it could be made.

OT: Watch BSG 2003 serie (including the recently released Razor movie)... You'll love it ;)

True! Adding all the important coherences between source characteristics and the required (counter)measures is a hard task... But I guess with a hand full of experienced encoders and some effort we could come up with something that is much better than the current "1-2-3 click" GUIs noobs have to use right now! :]

Unfortunately I have my doubts as well... Not because its impossible to code something like this [ok, it will need lots of effort n testing, but thats true for all good software, eh?], I guess it will be simply the lack of some willing coders! :\

You are right... I already have seen season 1+2 [they aired it here] and i liked it! Spacefights with rockets are sooooo much cooler than the usual scifi lasers, huh? I havent seen the other seasons yet, and I didnt know about the movie so far... Thanks for the hint! ;]
