Artefacts on subtitles

Well second try, you can deleted my first post... i hope this time the rules are respected, or i have a big problem with english...

I encode an anime in xvid 900 kbps 23.976 FPS, the source is in divx 5 1600 kbps 119.880 FPS.

After encoding, i still have artefacts on subtitles, how can i remove them ? at least its possible ?
With H264 version its perfect, but with xvid its not.

There is a good filter to do what i want ? im new in filter so i dont know all filters that i can use.

I added hydribfupp in the script, but its not better, except that the time to encode was more long.

Any tip to help me ? Im still reading posts on forum to find something about my problem.

Assuming that 120fps anime source is actually something your friend made from his legally purchased dvd, I'd say that AFAIK, subs gather up noise if you encode them with low bitrate, but... Meh, why not do softsubs? And just add'em up to the mkv file? Encode only the kara/typeset...

Anyways... Try highter bitrate jsut for fun...

Its not illegal source, its not from DVD but TV, the anime is not licenced in my country, its not legal or illegal but tolerated where im from, its why i dont understand my first post was closed, do you understand me Sagekilla ?

@DarkT : when i do 2pass, i keep the first pass in fullquality, its perfect but 300-400 Mo, its a little high. With 1000 kbps i still have these artefacts, so if i understand, i cant remove then, excepted if i up the biterate.

The reason the first post was closed was because it looked very fishy, typically people who come along with DivX or XviD encoded videos have gotten them from an illegal source where the usage of said codecs is very popular.

If where you live they broadcast in TV format with XviD or DivX, then we can gladly help. But you need to specify where you got the video from or else we might not be able to help. (Rule 6) But, if this is indeed a TV capture then I'll gladly help you.

If you want to clean up your anime and upsize it, you should look at this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=132240 There's a bunch of scripts in there to remove noise, artifacts, sharpen and antialias the lines, and upscale the clip from a lower resolution to a higher so it looks better.

I managed to improve the quality tremendously using the scripts I had there, but I strongly suggest you tweak whichever you choose of the scripts to your tastes.

With H264 version its perfect, but with xvid its not.

I belive it's solely bitrate related... To achieve same quality, H264 needs less bitrate then xvid... Hence, if yo ugive h264 1000bitrate, try giving 1400 to xvid... Or something...

You seem to be dancing around this question and have not adequately answered it. Guyver, how did you obtain this? Did you download this off a website, did a friend copy it from a DVD onto your hard drive, or did you capture this off TV? While it may not be illegal in your country, it's certainly illegal to download anime or movies that are not available free of charge here in the US.

The point is: If you have downloaded this material, regardless of the legality of downloading in your country, you cannot come here for help and your thread will be locked again.

I downloaded the raw anime on a website, US i think, i have not jap TV in France, but its a TV capture, without almost all pubs, or logo. It cant be a DVD source because DVDs dont exist for the moment, and the anime is new on jap TV, like Bleach or Naruto.

If its illegal for you, in your point of view, so close or delete my posts, i dont want that you get problems with that and i apologize.

For me its not a "illegally obtained copyrighted content" in the sens where its not forbidden to download it and use it until its licensed in my country, like in US, do you see what i want to say ?

Doesn't matter. It is licensed for broadcast in Japan only, so unless you happened to be in Japan and recorded it there yourself you're infringing on the anime's copyright holder's copyright the instance you download it; if someone else recorded it and you download it without explicit consent from the copyright holder it's illegal, period.

Is that so hard to understand? :rolleyes: (Also, anime is a luxury, not a right - so no, you're not entitled to it unless you actually paid for it...)

Just so you know, for the future: Unless you capture or rip it yourself, or have a license, or it's public domain, we can't help you. That's our simple policy, in agreement with most of the world's copyright laws. In all states participating in the Bern Convention, the law is that once something is copyrighted in one state, it is in all states - it's not that it's "tolerated", but rather that it's low on the priority list. Singapore, Malaysia, and China are the only states that crack down on fansubs, mainly because they're sold for profit.

If you look up the public statements of Japanese studios and broadcasters, you'll find that most are as virulently anti-piracy as the RIAA, but they don't have the RIAA's funds to prosecute it. The French licensee statements I've seen are the same. Very few see it as a marketing tool, although many of the American licensees are progressive enough to publicly acknowledge that they wouldn't exist without it.
